Allergy Haven

A recent episode of ABC's new show, October Road, brought to my attention the dangers of food allergies. The cast waited in the hospital with Hannah, because her son Sam was admitted for complications due to a peanut allergy. If you are a parent of a child with life-threatening food allergies, you have a lot of research, choices and preparing to do to protect your child! The job can feel overwhelming but there is help available.

I was recently introduced to a fantastic website designed to empower, educate and support parents of children with food allergies. The site is called Allergy Haven and they are doing a wonderful job helping parents provide a safe haven for their kids. Allergy Haven provides tips for making your home as allergy-free as it can be, up-to-date allergy information and products to educate, inspire and protect the child.

This month In Style Moms will be giving away a free Kid's epi-pen Skate Pack and a sample of the pantry stickers offered at Allergy Haven. To be entered to win, all you need to do is visit Allergy Haven, find one thing you can do to make your home a safe haven and email me your answer. All entries will be added to a drawing and a winner will be randomly selected on June 1, 2007. If your child has life-threatening allergies, I'd also love to hear what you do to protect him/her from harmful foods.
