Baby Bags with Loads of Style!

We are so lucky to be moms today! We get to pick a diaper bag that doesn't actually look like a diaper bag! We can select a bag that will take us years beyond diapering, fit our personal fashion sense and still be functional for carrying the diapers! Hurray for the little thrills in life!

Now, I am not saying it makes our lives easier because we do have the tough decision of which diaper bag to purchase. This is no easy task! Perhaps you are the high fashion mama that wants a gorgeous velvet baby bag that can double as a tote bag for all your magazines, make-up and extra pair of heels in case the ones you are wearing start to pinch.

Maybe you are an AlphaMom who loves everything rock n' roll. Your kids dress in the latest rock tees and you love to wear camo. You'll need a bag that suites your taste!

Are you the mom that travels light? You'll still need the diapers and wipes but that is all you take along. You'll want to carry an amazingly clever diaper clutch that is compact enough to throw in your own tote bag.
Are you "Little Ms. Organized"? Do you like to take everything you'll possibly need with you every time you leave the house with baby? You'll want the pre-packed diaper bag that has it all so you can't forget!

Whatever your style, there is a baby bag for you! How do you decide? I don't know, how about one for each day of the week?? They are all so great, who wants to decide?

Tips for Dressing Svelte

We can't always have the body we'd really like so here are some tips to help you look fabulous no matter your budget or body type. These tips come out of The Thrifty Girl's Guide to Glamour: Living the Beautiful Life on Little or No Money by Susie Galvez.

1. Stand up straight. This squares your shoulders, pulls in your tummy and lengthens the line of your body. You'll look pounds lighter instantly.

2. Get a full length mirror. Check yourself out, front and back. Often it's the rear view-a skirt that cups your bottom, a pleat that won't lie flat- that advertises pounds, and somehow you are the only one who doesn't notice.

3. Wear darker colors. Dark colors are the ultimate slimmer.

4. Buy a good bra.

5. Whenever appropriate, wear heels to add a few slenderizing inches of height.

6. Rethink your hair. A shorter, simpler cut with a little height on top might make your neck (and you) seem longer and slimmer.

7. Avoid excess details. Generally, things like ruffles, gathers, pleats, piping and patch pockets add pounds.

8. A large bulky label can create an unwelcome bulge behind the neckline. Simply cut it out.

9. Talk with experienced sales people. Wardrobe consultants are often available in shops and department stores. The can be a valuable resource when analyzing your own figure strengths and flaws.

10. Chuck the chunk. Do not wear platform shoes. Simple, low-cut classic pumps help legs look longer.

You're Never too Young to Learn

When do you believe learning begins? BabyPlus believes it begins during the prenatal period when the brain is in the most receptive stage of learning. The BabyPlus Prenatal Education System is a set of sound lessons that are played to the prenatal child. This patented approach enhances learning ability. As your baby begins to recognize the difference between the rhythmic sounds of BabyPlus and the similar natural rhythms of the mother’s heartbeat, learning begins.

BabyPlus is a series of 16 scientifically designed sounds that resemble a mother's heartbeat. The rhythm of the sounds increases incrementally as the pregnancy progresses. The BabyPlus sonic pattern introduces your child to a sequential learning process, built upon the natural rhythms of their own environment. These lessons can be done throughout your pregnancy, ideally beginning as early as 18 weeks but can be started as late as 34 weeks.

To learn more about BabyPlus, view a product demo or hear a sample of the lessons, visit BabyPlus.com.

For a chance to win a BabyPlus prenatal education system ($149 retail value!), sign up for the In Style Moms newsletter. An opportunity to win will be offered to newsletter subscribers only. Sign up by Wednesday, May 30 to receive the May 31 newsletter issue.

Beauty Tip from Mommy Makeup

Makeup Artist, Mom and Owner of Mommy Makeup, Debra Rubin-Roberts, offers this advice:

"If you are going to wear lip color, then fill in your brows too. When you wear lip color only, your face will appear "bottom heavy". The brows balance out the mouth. Coloring in the brows also makes your eyes appear brighter and more open."

Check out Mommy Makeup Brow Tint and Mommy Kisses Lip Gloss for a perfectly balanced face!

Allergy Haven

A recent episode of ABC's new show, October Road, brought to my attention the dangers of food allergies. The cast waited in the hospital with Hannah, because her son Sam was admitted for complications due to a peanut allergy. If you are a parent of a child with life-threatening food allergies, you have a lot of research, choices and preparing to do to protect your child! The job can feel overwhelming but there is help available.

I was recently introduced to a fantastic website designed to empower, educate and support parents of children with food allergies. The site is called Allergy Haven and they are doing a wonderful job helping parents provide a safe haven for their kids. Allergy Haven provides tips for making your home as allergy-free as it can be, up-to-date allergy information and products to educate, inspire and protect the child.

This month In Style Moms will be giving away a free Kid's epi-pen Skate Pack and a sample of the pantry stickers offered at Allergy Haven. To be entered to win, all you need to do is visit Allergy Haven, find one thing you can do to make your home a safe haven and email me your answer. All entries will be added to a drawing and a winner will be randomly selected on June 1, 2007. If your child has life-threatening allergies, I'd also love to hear what you do to protect him/her from harmful foods.
